A Father & Son Journey of Passion, Perseverance, and Creativity
We’re Tom and Rubin, a father-and-son duo with a shared love for anime, trading card games, and all things collectible. But more than that, our journey is one of resilience, learning, and finding a way to turn challenges into something truly special.
Rubin, diagnosed with Autism and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), was left without full-time education for years. The battle to secure the right provision for him was long and exhausting—countless appeals, complaints to the Local Government Ombudsman, and even a feature on BBC News to highlight the injustice. But through it all, my wife and I have never stopped fighting for him.
During the many hours spent at home, we searched for ways to keep him engaged. That’s when we discovered his deep love for anime, trading card games, board games, and video games. We bonded over Pokémon and Digimon, diving into the classic games, watching the anime, and collecting the cards.
As our collection of trading cards grew, we wanted a way to not just store them, but display them proudly for all to see. So, we took a leap and bought a small 3D printer, creating storage boxes just for ourselves. The response from friends and family was overwhelming—they loved them! After a year of refining our craft, we decided to go all in. Not just for the joy of creating, but to give Rubin an opportunity to learn and grow in ways that the education system had denied him.
Running our small business is more than just printing—it’s become a way for Rubin to develop essential skills. Through planning stalls and selling our fan art designs, he gained confidence, practiced maths without even realizing it, and discovered the pride that comes with building something of his own. Seeing him light up after a successful sale, eager to practice his addition and subtraction, is priceless.
Life is still tough, and the fight for full-time provision continues. But for now, Rubin is integrating into an alternative provision for a few hours a week while remaining passionate about our business. Our ultimate goal? To build a future where he can thrive against the odds—and, one day, to give back and support other autistic individuals who are also being failed by the system.
When you buy from us, you’re not just purchasing a handcrafted 3D-printed product. You’re supporting a dream, a journey, and a mission to prove that neurodivergent individuals deserve every chance to succeed.
Thank you for being part of our story. 💙
